Serenity™ is not a drug, it is non-toxic has no known side effects. It is not necessary to monitor the blood serum levels, which is otherwise necessary when administering the drug, Lithium Carbonate. Serenity™ furthermore, does not trigger the harmful side effects that normally occur with high doses of Lithium Carbonate, Sulfate, Acetate, or Citrate.¹

Dr. Nieper reports that during use of Serenity™, regular examinations of blood serum levels are not necessary because there is not an important increase in the serum's Lithium content. Muscular tremors (fibrillation) are also prevented, as well as disorderly effects on the thyroid. The formation of 'goiter' is avoided, as are undesirable disturbances in the body's water balance.²

Serenity™ preferentially attracts toward the following cell systems: connective structure of the brain, such as the brain blood barrier and the glia cells. With Orotic Acid as the carrier, "it is thus possible to improve the specific effect of Lithium nearly 20 fold."² Clinically, five (5) milligrams elemental natural Lithium in Serenity™ is relatively equal to 100 milligrams of "elemental" Lithium Carbonate.

During Dr. Nieper's preliminary work with Dr. Franz Kohler on specific cellular electrolyte carriers, he considered the possibility that Orotic Acid might be an appropriate carrier molecule. Later, "clinical trials and electron microscopic research (Nieper, Moenninghoff, 1971) indicate that the Orotates have specific affinity toward cells of the blood brain barrier, heart, blood vessels, and cartilage."³ Orotic Acid penetrates very easily into the cell and, as an aromatic substance, its salts possess high chemical-complexing power. Dr. Nieper found that the Orotates pass through the cell's double-layered outer membrane and are decomposed for utilization only by the inner components of the cell, such as the microsomes and the mitochondria.¹ Biochemist and Scientific Consultant, Arthur D. Alexander III, Ph.D., describes the mitochondrial organelles as the cell's "furnace" which break down sugars and fats to produce cellular energy.

Serenity™ is a molecular compound of one elemental Lithium and one Orotic Acid molecule, all micro vortex enteric coated to protect the fragile mono-valent bond during passage through the stomach acids when administered orally.
